Biblical verses about Self-defense

Why Christians, should be encouraged to Arm Themselves?

Why it is okay to defend yourself?

why it is okay to defend your family at home?

-------

Exodus 22

"If a man steals an ox or a sheep, and slaughters it or sells it, he shall restore five oxen for an ox and four sheep for a sheep. If the thief is found breaking in, and he is struck so that he dies, there shall be no guilt for his bloodshed. If the sun has risen on him, there shall be guilt for his bloodshed. He should make full restitution; if he has nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft".

Means that if somebody breaks into my house at night, and I believe are trying to kill me you have every right to defend yourself and your family

However, if it happen to be in daytime and I see them and try to run out the back door, I definitely do not have any right at that point.

However if they go on to try to attack me,

Romans 13:4

"He is God's minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he is God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil".

We are to defend not only our families and home but also others around us; if your neighbours being killed, you should go, defend that person

Luke 22:36-38

"Then he said to them, but how he who has money bag, let him take it, and likewise a sack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one"

What is taking place here this is the night that Jesus was captured. Of course he know what is about to happen; he is preparing the disciples for a life apart from him, he is preparing them for a life of danger where they are going to be seen as criminals.

Many people suggest that the word that they used here for sword, what Jesus is saying is the word of God, because oftentimes the Bible is referred to as a sword. However anytime they refer to the word of God is a sword they use a Greek word for battle sword the word used for sword here is the Greek word for a dagger so, it is definitely a self-defense weapon and Jesus Centrally said you need one

Proverbs 25:26

"As a cold water to a weary soul so is good news from a far country. A righteous man who falters before the wicked is like a murky spring and a polluted well"

Anybody who just kind of turns a blind eye to the wicked doing terrible things especially violent things to other, you are like a polluted well there is nothing good coming from you and as Christians we are to defend the weak, we are to defend the helpless, the widows, the orphans; especially against the violent people

Nehemiah 4:17

"Those who build on the wall, and those who carried burdens, loaded themselves so that with one hand they worked at construction, and with the other held a weapon. Every one of the builders had his sword girded at his side as he build. And the one who sounded the trumpet was beside me"

Big people feared for their lives as they feared for their homes

Nehemiah has gone back to Israel after the Babylonians had conquered it and they had been in captivity for 70 years, just to be released by the Persians and Nehemiah is back there to help rebuild the walls around Jerusalem and as they build, there is all sorts of people trying to stop from building

Psalm 82

"Deliver the poor and needy; free them from the hand of the wicked

Roman 12:19

"Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, " Vengeance is mine, I will repay" says the Lord".

When Paul is talking about it is said what he is referring to is Deuteronomy 32:35

What is essentially saying is that God actually is the in charge of vengeance and God has wrath towards those who do wicked; it is not in our interest nor is it legal nor is it biblical to seek vengeance on anybody that does wicked. Our role as Christians is simply to stop the wicked now that the wicked is happening whether it be to our families, our neighbors or us
