I interviewed my co- group facilitators at Nationalities Service Center. We worked together to create a summer youth group program for migrant and refugee teens in the Philadelphia area. My co-worker has lived in Philadelphia since the end of 2020. I asked her about her experience as a case manager working with refugees from Afghanistan. My main takeaway from the interview was she wants people to know that the community is optimistic and has a lot to offer the city of Philadelphia. The people that she has helped during her time at NSC are kind and hard-working. They left everything behind to start over in a country where their first language is not commonly spoken. This journey takes a lot of courage to embark upon. The collage I created shows many items and places that represent this community. I have included pictures of the Philadelphia, some cultural foods, and words that represent some of the values that this community holds. This is a community full of a rich culture and deep ties to one another. They have many support systems set in place to help one another and are very caring towards one another.
