Kaira Crenshaw

The painting represents the perspective of the Philadelphia community from a member of the facility in which I was an intern. The member emphasized the brokenness of the community and the increase of violence which has made people within the community more cautious to go out. The member emphasized that this issue was not specific to Philadelphia but more universal as the whole world has become more violent and broken since the occurrence of the pandemic. The eye in the center of the painting indicates the members tears as she mourns a world she used to know. The angel sitting atop of the eye represents the nurturing nature of the member and the way in which she gives back to the Philadelphia community in hopes to see it become whole once again.
