During the 2024–2025 school year, Paralimni Lyceum successfully implemented a series of student group mobilities abroad under Erasmus+ projects. These exchanges offered our students valuable opportunities to collaborate, travel, and learn in intercultural environments. Each mobility brought together young people from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds, and involved students from both the mainstream curriculum and the special education unit.
The first mobility of the year took place in Spain, hosted by INS Alba del Vallès in Catalonia, as part of the final exchange for the “Resilience for the Future” project. Students explored issues related to the protection of marine environments and endangered marine species, taking part in thematic workshops, creative activities, and field visits that raised awareness of ecological challenges and ocean conservation.
This mobility was implemented in collaboration with Ava Gymnasium from Sweden, enriching the intercultural and environmental dimension of the project.
In January 2025, students travelled to Germany for the “Speak Up” project, hosted by Gustav-Heinemann-Oberschule in Berlin. The programme focused on youth participation, public speaking, and active citizenship. Students engaged in debating activities, explored topics such as fast food, sustainable farming, and climate responsibility, and participated in guided cultural visits.
They were joined by students from Italy, Poland, and the Czech Republic, who formed part of the broader network of partner schools working with the German host, contributing to a dynamic and diverse exchange.
In April 2025, students participated in the second mobility of the “Unmasking Bias” project, hosted by Johann Comenius School in Emmerthal, Germany. This bilateral exchange between Germany and Cyprus focused on recognizing and challenging social biases through inclusive workshops, team-building activities in nature, and the creation of awareness-raising videos using the AIDA communication model.
The programme included visits to Hamelin and Hannover, as well as a football tournament on fair play and respect.
The final student mobility of the year took place in Thessaloniki, Greece, hosted by 2nd GEL Polichni, as part of the “Breaking the Language Barrier: Arts for Communication – Focus on Friendship” project. This inclusive exchange brought together students from mainstream and special education programmes to explore non-verbal communication and artistic expression. Activities included visual art workshops, drama, traditional games, nature-based storytelling, and cultural presentations.
The mobility also included the participation of Italian students, contributing to a rich, multicultural atmosphere centered on empathy, creativity, and connection.
