Schizophrenia is a condition that is known to affect the way an individual thinks, behaves and feels. Symptoms that people with schizophrenia exhibit are delusions, hallucinations, catatonic behavior, disorganized speech and negative symptoms (social withdrawal, anhedonia). Schizoaffective disorder is characterized by a combination of two symptoms: psychotic, and mood. For DSM-5 criteria, schizophrenia and a mood disorder must be met. This mood disorder can be either a manic mood or a major depressive mood (Morin, 2023).
