This assessment measures a child's motivation to participate in play activities
it observes a child's motivation: exploration, competency, and achievement
This assessment provides information about the child's motivational strengths and weaknesses, environmental supports and hindrances, and activities to maximize their motivation.

Scoring Procedure (how is assessment scored and what does score indicate)
the therapist observes 14 different behavioral items, which are scored on a 4-point rating scale: (S) spontaneous, (I) involved, (H) hesitant, (P) passive. children are scored on a continuum of volitional development: exploration (requires less volition), competency, and achievement (requires the most volition).
