Anxiety Disorders include separation anxiety, selective mutism, phobias, panic disorder, agoraphobia, generalized anxiety disorder, and social anxiety. The most common one is generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), which is when an individual has worried thoughts in everyday situations that involve physical symptoms to appear. These symptoms include but are not limited to nausea, sweating, irritability, and Gastrointestinal distress (Morin, 2023).
Obsessive Compulsive and Related Disorders include obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), Hoarding Disorder, Trichotillomania Disorder, and Excoriation Disorder. An obsession is a recurrent and persistent thought or urge that is intrusive and unwanted. A compulsion is the repetitive act or behavior of acting on said obsessions (Morin, 2023).
