Brahe was driven by his desire to make accurate observations and his quest for improved measurements. He was the last major astronomer to work without the aid of a telescope. Brahe designed larger versions of the sextant and the quadrant, which allowed him to achieve much greater accuracy in his observations.
Brahe's celestial positions were more accurate and precise than any of his predecessors.
