I practice this skill throughout the semester as i model with cross software collaboration using Rhino and revit, and trying to 3D print my final model.
I practice this skill during early this semester's group work leading the team to analyze the site together.
From this 16 weeks time I learned a lot from my tutor, Mr. Manny and also from my Lecturer Mr. Shawn. Throughout the project, my tutor Mr. Manny encourage and motivates me a lot during my design process and helps me so I can look at my design more critically and creatively. I really enjoy the way I can really go crazy with my weird ideas having 3D printing as a story making tool for my learning center yet my tutor is always backing me up and guide me back if I'm off track. Another tutor that I would like to thank would be Dr. Allen which was my Crit during concept development for pointing out the weakness of my concept and helping me out when I am building up my new concept of story making using 3D printing. There is also a lot of other tutors that help me out this sem such as Mr. Hazazi, Dr. Ian and even Prof. Shuhana which I reach out after class reaching for different aspects of feedback and I really learn a lot from each of their perspectives and finding it helpful in later on justifying my design intentions and decisions. Lastly I also like to thank for having bunch of awesome friends and course mate that encourage me a lot throughout the journey which really help me a lot brushing up my design as well not giving up myself.
Modelling workflow has also changed a bit for me this time with Rhino 3D in use to model curve facades and roofs. I can tell the flexibility use of different software is helping me to express my design more naturally and more crazy. I manage to utilize strength from both software achieving the balance of using BIM or Revit's simplicity in basic form components and Rhino in more organic form. I also tried to model with "grasshopper" in some of the simpler components and it really feels like a different world. I am looking forward to fully collaborate these 2 software more better for my final semester design.
For this semester, one of the new experience i have is to 3D print on my own starting from setting the files, choosing the colors and correcting the error prints. I encountered a lot of troubleshooting during my final model printing which makes me panic a lot for unable to complete everything in time. Yet I am glad that my main building still successfully print out with a great amount of details. It has been good and bad with 3D printing in hands maximizing the complexity of my design while not killing myself during physical model making to struggling with all sorts of technical concern. I mean... Its never perfect so it takes time and we will slowly getting hang of it.
It is also a fun experience designing the final project this semester where we can plan the programs within our building based on our creativity which I find it very flexible to able to narrate the building according to the site. I am very enjoyed with the narrative and concept I have come up with even though they aren't convert into architecture that well enough but at least I am satisfied with how far I was able to make with this site that I have been complaining it unfair since the start of the project.
Overall this had been a really amazing semester and I am really enjoyed with what I have gone through and learned throughout this 16 weeks time.
