Case Study - Assessing Daylight & Thermal
Comfort at Modern Houses

Artificial Lighting Design Layout:
LUMEN METHOD
(40%)
I learned this skill by learning AutoCAD3Dsoftware in Project 1
I learned this skill when working together carrying out research throughout both project.
From this 7 weeks Architecture and Environment module, I learned a lot from my groupmates and tutor. I would especially like to thank My tutor, Ar. AXXU Hoi Jung Wai for guiding me throughout the projects and help me develop my understanding regarding passive design. I really enjoyed the projects in the way how we get to study the daylighting and thermal comfort of a real life house. I learned a lot of skills and brushed my teamwork spirit throughout the group works.
One of the thing that I learn through the project is the Lux reading recording from project 1. This is a new experience and I learn the skill by drawing grids on the floor of the living room and measure the lux reading using phone and tripod stand. With the aid of sun path diagram and other on site analysis I learn to propose passive design solution to improve the sun path of the space.
Another thing that I learn from the project is the Lumen Calculation. This is a method used to calculate the artificial lighting need in the space. I learned this skill throughout the project 2. With the aid of online research, I learn to design and position the lightings on the ceiling to evenly provide the lighting in the space fulfilling different function.
