Mary ? 1795-?

The 1841 census recorded Mary with her husband Thomas Jackson, a shoemaker in Hovingham, N. Yorks, both aged 40. They presumably married within a few years of 1820, when a son John, baptised 17 Sep 1820 at Hovingham (Hovingham BMD), was born. This first son seems to have died as an infant and the name John given again to one of their twin sons born in 1826.

The record of Thomas & Mary for the 1851 census shows him to be born in Egton in 1795. They were still living in Hovingham for the 1861 census. A Thomas Jackson born in Egton did not appear in the 1871 census. The death of a Thomas Jackson aged 74 in 1866 (Hovingham Bapt, Marr, Deaths) was recorded in Hovingham. This age differs only by 3 years with that of the census returns, so this could be our Thomas. It is consistent with him not appearing in the 1871 census.

Thomas and Mary had the following children recorded in the 1841 census -
