Toroa took to the waters of lake Rotoiti in early January with almost a complete "crew of vikings" from Sweden who had recently attended a family wedding of Russell's. His son has married a Swedish lady and the family were keen to try out Toroa while in town. Rowing must run in their blood as all took to the rowing like " ducks to water " and the boat was moving extremely well in a short space of time. The crew of Monica, Lars, Annie and Philip /Russell /Denis spent a considerable time on the lake sharpening their skills'which was followed up with a sumptuous lunch of marinated cerviche and pan fried cod compliments of the happy couple. An admiring group of Aussies earnt a row during ourvlunch break after extending admiring looks and compliments about the boat and they performed well as first timers also. It's one of the delights of taking Toroa on tour. She certainly attracts interest and surprisingly by-standers are pretty happy to just jump in and have a go. Great stuff!
Shouldnt be surprised if a SAS club or similar pops up in rural Sweden sometime soon. Those Swedes can certainly move a boat along nicely.
