Yep.. we cracked it ...... bridge 3 on a very high incoming tide up the Maitai river. Not possible to go much further with rapids and shallows only a wee way further up river... so Mission Maitai accomplished. Met a couple of whitebaiters who seem to think its worthwhile having a go in our local river. We rowed up river with a strong northerly astern and resolved ourselves to a slow row home as on the return the wind hadnt eased at all and it took us a very slow hour heading full bow on to get back to our launching spot at the marina ramp. Big ups for the SAS design as there was not a drop of water in the boat on our return. Also today we were only rowing with two oars (2 & 3 seats) so informative that we can be light crewed and still handle some pretty rough conditions . A good workout for us and emphasises the benefits of the boat and rowing as a fitness discipline,... Its got to be good for you ! Crew today coxen Jocelyn and Russell and Denis.
