Narrative Essay Assignment:

Light-bulb Moment

Sometimes, like the character of Siddhartha, we have moments in which we are suddenly illuminated with truth and clarity by an unexpected realization or experience. At other times, the “everyday” moments subtly provide light and guidance about our personality, our aspirations, our values, etc. In this essay you will narrate one experience in your life and explain its significance. Often our most powerful writing stems from our strongest emotional experiences.

Steps for Success:

Step 1:

• Complete the Narrative Essay Pre-Writing Handout by Friday, Feb. 5th.

Step 2:

• Use the Sample MLA Narrative Essay Document to write your paper.

Step 3:

• When finished, look at the Narrative Essay Editing Checklist and correct any errors.

Step 4:

• Look over your paper with the Narrative Essay Rubric . Submit your final draft by 11:59 p.m. Monday, March 1st. This counts as a major assessment grade!
