Essential Question: How do you calculate IP ranges using CIDR notation? What CIDR notation indicates a large network?
Mastery Objectives:
SWBAT to calculate the broadcast address using CIDR notation.
SWBAT to calculate first host and last host using CIDR notation.
SWBAT to calculate the network address using CIDR notation.
MA DESE CTE Information Support Services and Networking Standards:
Given a scenario, students will design an IP scheme for a network and identify the network, broadcast, and host address range for a network.
Students will apply Classless Inter-Domain Routing (CIDR) and Variable-Length Subnet Masking (VLSM) rules to a large network.
Directions: In teams of two, work together to solve each IP CIDR notation to find the:
Subnet Mask
Network Address
Broadcast Address
First Host
Last Host
Make sure to show your math and binary. You and your teammate should know how to do this, make sure to repeat the steps out loud. Once you have the correct answer, shout it out. Teams get one point for the correct answer and two points for finding it first.
We will go over each answer after and make sure you understand how to calculate CIDR.
