Essential Question: How much time do I spend on soft addictions?
Mastery Objectives:
Understand what a soft addiction is.
Learn the effects of soft addiction and how many people struggle with soft addictions.
Requirements:
Interview 1 student and 1 adult (parent, guardian, a sibling who is an adult, aunt or uncle, or any adult family member).
Choose 8 questions from the questions below. Add two follow-up questions of your own. You should have a total of 10 questions.
Don’t accept one-word answers. One-word answers receive no credit.
Record interviews in Google Docs. Write down all responses and copy the questions you used. Please give the name of the people you interviewed before their responses.
Questions List:
1) How much time do you spend on your phone in a day? (doing anything - texting, social media, games, etc.)
2) How much time do you spend on a game system (i.e. xbox) or computer playing games in a day?
3) How much time do you spend on electronics (for non-school related activity) in a day?
4) How much time do you spend on electronics (for school-related activity) in a day?
5) Did you ever have to go without your phone for an extended period of time and how did you feel?
6) Do you find yourself comparing your life to others online (i.e. Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, chat groups, etc.)?
7) Do you feel that your online profile reflects your real life?
8) Do you use your cell phone during mealtime?
9) Do you use your cell phone at work? If so, how?
10) Does the cell phone issue need to be addressed at school? If so, how would you do it?
11) Do you feel that cell phones add or detract to classes?
