ランドスケープの設計で環境を考えるということ

ランドスケープは自然物を扱うが、
ランドスケープの設計＝環境にいい
というわけではない。

イメージに合わない既存樹木等を抜き、
その地の環境に適さない樹木を植えている場合もある。

既存の緑地が取り壊されて新しい緑地ができる度、
違和感を感じてきたが、
注目すべきはそれだけではないことに気づかされた。
その新しい緑地の構成材料はどこから運ばれてきている？
同じ樹種だからといって関東のものと九州のものとは全く同じ生態ではないかも？

大学で環境を勉強して、視野が広くなってきたつもりだったけど、
大分甘かったようだ。

だがここで国内や地域のものに限ると、身動きが取れなくなってくる。
第一私にはこだわれるだけの十分な知識量もない。

現段階の私が、
そして「デザイン」を求められる設計者が、
環境のためにできることはなんだろうか。

To think of environment in landscape architecture 

Landscape architecture deal with natural elements,
but they do not directly link to environmental friendliness.
Some designers remove the existing trees that does not match with their vision,
and plant trees that are not suitable for the land.

I always questioned the situation where an existing green spaces are flattened for a new one,
but I was taught that that is not the only issue.
Where are the materials for the new green spaces come from?
Even if it’s the same species, the one from Kanto and Kyushu may have a different ecologies.
I thought my perspective of seeing the environment had widened after my four-year study,
but I may had been naive.

However, if I stick on too much to the local, eco-friendly materials, my design will soon be limited.
First of all, I don’t have enough knowledge to be particular about the details.
What can I, or a “designer” of the landscape do for the environment?
