Woodcutting Permits

Those who wish to cut firewood in the national forest must possess a current ‘Personal Fuelwood’ permit issued by the U.S. Forest Service. Permitting is available online.

The closest place to obtain one in person is the Lake Almanor Ranger District Office at 900 E. Hwy. 36 in Chester. Call before making the trip: (530) 258-2141.
