Community Card Game
The Mineral community has been playing cards for more than 35 years now... (37?!) every other week. Currently the game is on Wednesdays. This rummy game has unique rules that have been in place for many years, so get ready to learn this unique and traditional version of the game.
For more information, contact Pam or stop by the Breakfast Club at the Lodge on Sunday mornings to get more information. No money is involved in any way, but there are usually good snacks brought by community members to share for free!
Conservation
Yard Waste Bins
The most popular question in recent weeks is: when are the bins coming?! In recent years, Green Waste of Tehama County has provided yard waste bins for community disposal of pine needles, twigs and small branches. Rumor has it that this year the bins might be placed within the community, so stay tuned for more news as it unfolds!
Meanwhile, some people are ordering yard waste bins for the clean up of their own property. Contact Green Waste of Tehama County to request a dumpster. More information can be found here: https://www.greenwasteoftehama.com/services/residential/residential-roll-off
Want to help the community clean up effort? If you see green waste bags piled along side of the road, these might be from volunteers cleaning up the public walkways. If you can dispose of the pine needles properly, please feel free to take and dispose of them. Keep the bags, or return to same location. Thanks volunteers!
Tree Trimming
Wright Tree Trimming is trimming trees and chipping branches from trees above the power lines. This photo taken on May 24, 2024 shows the team completing trimming of trees near the wires on one of the properties. Several properties were completed on this day.
The Mineral & Stringtown Hazard Tree Removal Project serves to treat dead, dying, and diseased trees, and trees that violate Public Resources Code 4291. Learn more here. Read more at TinderSmart Tehama's Wildfire Readiness Website.
Creating and maintaining 100 feet of defensible space around habitable structures is a wildfire preventative practice. Landowners within State Responsibility Areas (SRA) are required to create and maintain defensible space and those within the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) zone are encouraged to do so. Are you eligible to receive FREE help through the Tehama Conservation Fund's Defensible Space Assistance program? Limited time offer. See full details and apply here. The 2024 Season in Photos
Early Morning... It Begins!
May 25, 2024
It's a beautiful day as everyone is getting ready to visit the Lodge, explore the outdoors and enjoy the mountain air! Although a cool and sunny morning, there is still snow on the mountains behind the Ranch.
Something New?
There's a new water tank in town and the previous one is being refurbished during June. Looking beautiful on the hill, as always!
In Memory
Mineral remembers the fallen on this Memorial Day weekend. First things first, flags are appearing and waving throughout each day this weekend.
Mineral remembers fondly residents and family members who have passed.
Paynes Creek View
April 26, 2024
Just when we thought the snow was finished, we were glad to be getting more rain. But, these stormy clouds were looking a bit ominous! It wasn't long before rain turned to snow a few more times.
The Last Big Snow
May 5, 2024
Walking to the Lodge on May 5th for the weekly breakfast club was a bit easier with snow shoes and poles, after nearly two feet of snow during the past day and night. What a difference a few weeks makes!
Flowers in Bloom
May 18, 2024
Mineral's flowers seem more abundant than ever this year, perhaps due to the recent snows and rain. The colors seem especially vibrant this year! Walk around and see what you think... aren't there more flowers than usual?!
Preservation 2024
New Umbrellas at Mineral Lodge Patio!
Bright and light green adorn the Lodge patio with just the right amount of sun and shade for brunch! Post snow, the residents have had several weekends to test out the umbrellas. Now that Lodge will be open each day, we'll be able to enjoy them any day of the week.
Beware of Falling Trees
A boom was heard and sparks were seen early one day as a neighbor's tree fell right through another neighbor's home, located between Beresford and Amanda Way. In spite of good annual tree trimming, snowfall sometimes causes trees fall on houses.
Save Water During June
Watch for signage from the Water District as the arrow moves to red during June. But, don't worry! The new Ranch tank will supply basic water needs for Mineral and the Ranch while Mineral's tank is being re-coated by Superior Tank Solutions beginning Monday, June 3rd. Watch for usage guides to help us conserve during this month.
