Manzanita Lake Concept Plan
Lassen Volcanic National Park Needs YOUR Input before June 28th!
The National Park Service has developed a design concept plan and environmental assessment for the Manzanita Lake Developed Area of Lassen Volcanic National Park and is seeking public input on the proposed action. The plan includes concepts or natural and cultural resource protection, facility development, visitor use, and other management needs. You can help the park by reviewing the proposed action and providing your input.
How to get involved: Visit https://parkplanning.nps.gov/LAVO_DCP_EA between May 28, 2024, and June 28, 2024, to submit your input.

The Lassen Volcanic National Park asks staff and visitors alike to report wildlife sightings. Please use this form to report sightings of significant or unusual wildlife (such as cougars, bears, foxes, coyotes, marten, eagles, falcons, etc.) or any animal that is injured or acting strangely. Mineral welcomes visitors from the Lassen Church Campground (500 people!), Battle Creek Campground (UC Davis), the Susanville Bluegrass Festival (performers passing through!) and at the Mineral Lodge, with the opening of the park roads this weekend!
We're Working on Yard Waste Solutions for the Month... Keep Raking and Stay Tuned!
Although Green Waste of Tehama County was here on June 15th, there was some confusion about staying for a month. We're working on a solution to dispose of all of the yard waste piled up in anticipation. If you are able to dispose of yard waste, please let us know at mineralcalifornia@gmail.com.

Our volunteer Community Firewise Council works to keep our community increasingly safe against destruction due to wildfire. This includes efforts to reduce yard waste, high-risk trees and potential issues in case of fire.

RCD Has New Chipping Truck

The new chipping truck and chipper were spotted in Mineral as they were supporting residents, who can complete the request forms again for this year if they want Defensible Space support.

Today we celebrate the anniversary of June 14, 1777, when the Continental Congress approved the design of a flag for the United States. It's a great day to stop by the post office to pick up some flag stamps!
Father's Day at the Mineral Lodge Restaurant

What's New at the Lodge?
Bright and light green umbrellas now adorn the Lodge patio with just the right amount of sun and shade for brunch! Post snow, the residents have had several weekends to test them out. Now that Lodge will be open each day, we'll be able to enjoy them any day of the week.
Plus, new souvenirs have been stocked at the Mineral Lodge Store and also throughout the Restaurant. Take a sneak peek at some of them on the Shop Local page...

Beware of Falling Trees
A boom was heard and sparks were seen early one day as a neighbor's tree fell right through another neighbor's home, located between Beresford and Amanda Way.
In spite of good annual tree trimming, snowfall sometimes causes trees fall on houses.

It's Raining in Mineral?!
It was bright and sunny last week, other than those straight clouds in the sky overhead. A few days later, we have rain! We're not complaining, as there is more flora around this year than usual, and it thrives with the rain. It started as early morning sprinkles and continues throughout the day.

Saturday Nights Shuffleboard
Dinner, drinks and shuffleboard is all the rage in Mineral on Saturday nights at Mineral Lodge Restaurant.
The fun starts anytime, but some people walk on over for dinner at 6 or 7 and the games often begin around 8 p.m.
(Check out the recently restocked Huckleberry taffy, syrup and other products on the cabinet by the patio!)
Sundays Breakfast Club at Mineral Lodge Restaurant
Each week around 10-10:30 am, residents and visitors alike start gathering to have breakfast together at the Mineral Lodge Restaurant. If weather permits, we might be on the patio.
Stop by to join us and sit right down to eat breakfast or have a cup of coffee with neighbors.

Memorial Day Means Open!
Wherever we look, people are raking pine needles, trimming trees and preparing for the Spring and Summer in Mineral. Snow was melting only weeks ago, but it's warming up and looking good!
Mother's Day 2024
As usual, it was a full house throughout the day and evening on Mother's Day at the Mineral Lodge and Restaurant. The buffet was more food than one could possibly eat, but we all sure did enjoy trying! The homemade mashed potatoes were absolutely delicious, but so were more than a dozen items, in addition to the salads and desserts. Mothers and family members alike will remember these local, family-filled moments courtesy of one of Mineral's favorite families at the Lodge.
