Volunteer Opportunities

The Mineral California communications are created by Mineral community members. Come join the fun! Here are some opportunities that have been identified where you can volunteer in existing projects. Feel free to suggest projects where community members can get involved, too! Of course, content publishing is subject to the discretion of those working on the publications. Multiple volunteers per role are welcomed. To indicate your interest in volunteering or send over your ideas with which we can help by emailing mineralcalifornia@gmail.com.

Content Creators

Do you want to write articles, stories or news clips for the Mineral California publications? Mineral California News, Mineral California Magazine and www.mineralcalifornia.com can use your help! Join our group of volunteers to add content to and/or plan and work on these publications.

Researchers

Do you want to research videos and articles to share? Or, do you want to take on a bigger project, such as researching the types of indigenous trees and flowers we might find in Mineral? We can pair you with a writer, or write up your findings to share with the community. We can suggest topics for research and can also support your research ideas to share what you gather.

Photographers

We need pictures of Mineral every day! We would love to connect the photos to the daily calendar. Photos are also needed for the publications. If you have an 8K digital camera, even better! We can suggest some needed photos, but would love to see what you have that you're willing to share, too.

Historians

Do you want to gather Mineral's history to share? We would love photos, articles, writing and artifacts that we can share with the community. If you can scan, we would love to gather and store photos from Mineral's long-time residents. If you would like to call and interview fellow community members, we would love to share their stories and support the scanning of their collections, too. Help gather and share Mineral's history.

Virtual Event Coordinators

Are you good at bringing people together through virtual events? We are adding virtual events to every season of Mineral's community activities. Join the fun and help plan and host online events and activities for the community.

Services Outreach Liaisons

Do you like to contact local service providers? Reach out, gather their information to list on the website and work with them to identify deals, discounts, gifts, promotions and messages for Mineral community members.

Project Support Volunteers

Help the community prepare for upcoming projects. For the wreath making event, help collect pine boughs and wreath frames to share with neighbors. For the recipe exchange, help gather and publish recipes. For each activity, there are projects that could use your support, enthusiasm and enhancements!

Drivers for Pick-Ups or Rides

Are you willing to pick up pre-paid groceries or go on other errands for people in Mineral who can't get there for any number of reasons? Or, are you willing to give people rides? If you have reliable transportation and insurance and are willing to help, we'll set up a process to send you requests for driving support. You can determine if you request reimbursement for travel expenses. Please indicate if you are wiling to go to Red Bluff, Chico, Redding, Shasta, Sacramento or Reno. Also indicate if you are willing to do pick-ups and also if you are willing to take people and/or pets in your car, too. People requesting driving support should plan to agree to release drivers of any liability, and drivers should plan to agree that they are providing a community service, not accepting employment.
