About the Mineral Community Walk
On the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend, Mineral residents walk nearly 7 miles on the Mill Creek Road to converge at the Mill Creek Resort restaurant for fellowship and milkshakes.
Proceeds from commemorative T-shirt sales benefit the Mineral-Mill Creek Volunteer Fire Department and support the upkeep of the two Mineral signs and the flag pole.
Thanks to Sharon and Vikki for coordinating the event since 2003!
Looking Back: Individuals and Families Showing Community Spirit
People Wearing Blue Mineral T-Shirts Walking on Labor Day Weekend
Even though the Mineral Community Walk group events were cancelled in 2020, individuals and families and small groups of socially-distanced friends were seen walking around town over the Labor Day weekend. Walk supporters received blue t-shirts, which could be seen in Mineral, Mill Creek and along the road in between. Walk donations support maintenance of the Mineral signs and flag pole and the Volunteer Fire Department. In 2020, more than 70 people ordered shirts, allowing for $1,000 to be donated to the Volunteer Fire Department. It was a beautiful day, albeit hot, in spite of the significant white smoke in the air. Mill Creek Resort provided to-go lunches and milkshakes for walkers throughout the weekend. Community spirit is alive in the residents and visitors of Mineral, despite the restrictions.
