The State Flag of the Principality of Aigues Mortes
Adopted: (Unknown/ Presumably 21 June 2011)
Meaning of Flag Explained: The Flag of the Aigues Mortes is made up of a white and a Blue half with The "Camargue Cross" (drawn by the Marquis de Baroncelli) in the white, right side.
The blue serves to remind that the City of Aigues-Mortes was created by King Saint-Louis (Louis IX of France), and that it was intended to be a port. White symbolizes peace, light, but also salt (which was the main resource of the City of Aigues-Mortes in the past). The Camargue Cross recalls the Camaguese roots of the Principality. This symbol has certain values: "Faith for The Cross, charity for the heart and hope for The Cross" ("Foi pour La Croix, charité pour le cœur et espérance pour La Croix").
The Coat of Arms of the Principality of Aigues Mortes
Adopted: (Unknown/ Presumably 21 June 2011)
Meaning of CoA Explained: Just as the Flag of the Aigues Mortes does, the CoA contains the following symbols in its escutcheon: The blue serves to remind that the City of Aigues-Mortes was created by King Saint-Louis (Louis IX of France), and that it was intended to be a port. The Shield is being supported by 2 Knights in armour. Benath them is Aigues Morte's motto: "Je vois la vie en rosé" (French for I see life through rose-colored glasses).
