TAX SITE OFFICE SUPPLY KIT INITIATIVE
To support local tax site operations, we are providing starter supply kits to all Tax-Aide sites. Each kit includes five reams paper, a regular stapler with staples, staple remover, a heavy-duty stapler with staples, A10 envelopes, ink pens (black and red), highlighters, jumbo paper clips, medium binder clips, Post-it notes and clipboards.
A Google Form will be sent to all local coordinators, and they will have the option to opt out from receiving a kit for their site. Those who do not opt-out will be shipped a kit to the LC’s address listed in the Portal unless an alternate address is provided in the Google Form. Items will be shipped by USPS and arrive in two packages.
Unlike the process that is typically taken to order items by using the “Orders” tab in the Volunteer Portal, receiving a kit will not require any actionable steps on your part except to fill out the Google Form. The shipping of the kits will begin in mid-December, so please fill out your Google Form as soon as you receive it.
À la carte items will be available on a limited basis. If you attempt to order an item à la carte, and it is out of stock you can purchase the product and get reimbursed using the normal reimbursement process.
FINDING TAX-AIDE RESOURCES
To help volunteers easily locate the most requested Tax-Aide resources (how to log into the Portal, Chromebook, Link & Learn, etc.) as well as the location and links to committee resources, the committees have prepared a compact three-page document with this information. This resource also contains a link to a separate document showing how to search both within the Portal and committee drives. It is linked here FINDING TAX-AIDE RESOURCES and can also be found in the Volunteer Portal Tip Sheet Library>00.2 Finding Tax-Aide Resources.
DO YOU HAVE A NEW LOCAL COORDINATOR? APPOINT THEM IN THE PORTAL NOW!
The Policy and Procedures Manual has been updated to reflect the following change in policy: LCs who have completed the Volunteer Agreement, Intake/Interview and Quality Review tests and the Local Coordinator LMS course in the previous filing season can be appointed in the Portal in order to complete pre-season tasks. They may not open a site until they have completed all the local coordinator requirements, including the IRS Site Coordinator Test for the current filing season.
Note: If the TY 2024 Local Coordinator LMS course is not available, LCs can review the PowerPoints available in the Volunteer Portal at Libraries>LMS>TY2024 Course Documents>Local Coordinator Training.
Why make the appointment now? The new local coordinator will be able to order for their site and receive reimbursement. They will also receive Leader Communication emails as well as any other LC-specific communications, and they will receive the supply starter kits described above.
New local coordinators are encouraged to attend the LC enrichment sessions offered by NLDC. Dates and joining links can be found in the Tax-Aide Events Calendar, available below, and from the Tax-Aide Links dropdown menu.
SERVICE DELIVERY MODEL & SITE GROWTH INFORMATION SESSIONS
Does your site run out of appointments by the first week of March? Are you looking for ways to serve more taxpayers? Or do you want to open a new tax site? The Service Delivery Model Working Group is offering information sessions that will explore service delivery options, national partnership possibilities, and how to use session management as a tool to reach growth goals. There are nine sessions total and the first session “Starting an FSA Tax Site” led by R05 RC, Tom Noller, is Tuesday, November 11 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. ET. More information can be found in the Tax-Aide Event Calendar link below.
