Important End-of-Season Instructions
After installing a new toner cartridge, the printer's Replace toner mode setting appears to change from Continue to Stop. Be sure to check and change it back to Continue each time you replace the toner cartridge (https://help.brother-usa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61299/~/toner-continue-mode).
The active printer icon on the Chromebook printer list may also change from green to red, which may confuse counselors into thinking that they have the wrong printer. Continue to use the one that says Ink is low or something to that effect as long as print quality is good.
You can actually run on a current cartridge for quite a while with clear print, even with a low ink message once the Replace toner mode is reset to Continue. The printer will stop printing once the cartridge is actually empty. Make sure you have all pages of the return printed if this happens!
We went through toner cartridges rather quickly, this year, because many counselors believed the toner low message and may have prematurely changed the toner.
If you have replaced toner cartridges For a premature Replace toner message, or when you know they are not empty (TN-760 = 6000 pages -ish), return them to Graceworkz, who is aware of this issue, for credit & let your district Technical Coordinator and state TCS know. Thank you.

Brother Printer Support Resources
When setting up the Brother printer, make sure that the "Replace Toner" setting is set to "Continue".
It has been reported that when a Graceworkz toner cartridge is installed this setting gets changed to Stop. This is very inconvenient in the middle of printing a return and often premature as there is usually lots of toner left in the cartridge. You can keep printing until the print quality is too light.
Make a new tab in the Chrome browser
Type in "192.168.234.50" - the address of the printer
At the bottom of the left column, click "Replace Toner"
Click the button to the left of "Continue"
CLick :"Submit" to confirm
You should ger the screen back with "Submit OK"
Do this immediately after each toner cartridge replacement to ensure you are getting the maximum life from your toner.
You should turn the "Deep Sleep" Mode setting OFF on your Brother Printers HL-L2370DW using either the web admin interface or the printer LCD panel.
Follow these steps to use the Printer LCD Panel buttons.
Press OK until you see GENERAL SETUP
Press OK to enter GENERAL SETUP
Press DOWN arrow to go to ECOLOGY
Press OK to enter ECO Mode
Press DOWN arrow to go to SLEEP TIME
Press BACK and DOWN arrow at the same time to enter DEEP SLEEP setting
Press OK button
Press DOWN arrow to choose OFF
Press OK to ACCEPT the setting
Press BACK until the LCD shows READY
Done

Extend Toner & Drum kit life cycle: Tip Sheet
Drum kits do not always require replacement despite warnings. Unless the printer is smudging or printing vertical lines on pages after wiping, reset the drum counter and continue to use it until print quality starts to suffer. See Drum Counter Reset Note below.
Toner cartridge life can sometimes be extended several weeks by gently shaking the cartridge horizontally and reinstalling it into the printer. DO NOT reset the counter.
Unless you are at a very high print volume site, keep only one spare drum and two spare toner cartridge per site to ensure that we have adequate supplies. The best judge of your site's needs is you.
Remember to clean paper residue from inside your printer by using compressed air designed for electronics.
One thing that makes resetting the drum easier is to increase the “Button Repeat” time from its default of 0.1 seconds to 0.4 seconds. You do this on the web interface General Tab.
Set “Button Repeat” to 0.4 seconds. This setting controls how close together in time that you must press the “OK” and "UP" arrow buttons on the printer to reset the drum count. The default time of 0.1 seconds is very short, making it very difficult to bring up the drum reset menu.
New firmware updates for both the printers and scanners MUST be installed before the beginning of the new tax season.
Brother HL-L2370DW Printer: Refer to P08 Update Printer Firmware for instructions. After the update, verify all your printer configuration settings, particularly the toner setting under GENERAL SETUP, REPLACE TONER. Make sure it is set to CONTINUOUS.
Brother ADS-1700W Scanner: Refer to SC03 Brother ADS-1700W Scanner Setup Guide for instructions. NOTE: Chromebooks cannot be used to upgrade this scanner's firmware.
The default Brother HL-L2370DW Printer is automatically installed & connected to your Chromebook during login at any Tax-Aide site as long as it is setup using standard AARP-recommended networking. For more info, refer to P02 Brother HL-L2370dw Network Printer (Quick) Setup Guide.
For more information (FMI) about recommended and approved TA Site network setup procedures, refer to N02 Network Design Guide document.
