Taxpayers may also have the option to prepare their own basic federal and state tax returns for free using web-based tax preparation software with an IRS-certified volunteer to help guide them through the process. This option is only available at locations that list "Self-Prep" in the site listing.
Note: The site locator is usually available and updated regularly from January through to the April filing deadline. It is not usually available at other times of the year.
