Luke 6:20-21
Living in Discomfort
20Looking at his disciples, he said:
"Blessed are you who are poor,
for yours is the kingdom of God.
21Blessed are you who hunger now,
for you will be satisfied.
Blessed are you who weep now,
for you will laugh.
Last night on Sixty Minutes, they featured a family who had lost their home...The family had moved into their van, and then they later they moved into a motel room...The family was a father, and he had two young children...One child was a young girl around twelve to fourteen, and her older brother, who was a year or two older...The father had lost his job, and they had no choice but to do what they were doing...Throughout the show, the young girl spoke of their situation...It was sad, very sad that they had to live out of a van and were poor...It was sad that they had lost their home...It was sad to have to be doing what they needed to do...
As I watched the show and listened to the very young girl speak, I thought of these verses...It touched my heart, to listen to her story...A God of LOVE blesses the poor...Our God of LOVVE, blesses the ones who hunger...Our God of Love, blesses those who weep...Watching the young girl, it is easier to understand that the first will be last, and the last will be first...How could it not be, from our LOVING God?...God was with this family...
