Luke 6:12-16
The Twelve Apostles
12 One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God. 13 When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated apostles: 14 Simon (whom he named Peter), his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, 15 Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Simon who was called the Zealot, 16 Judas son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.
Many think if they start a prayer, and pray to Jesus and our Father, and pray fifteen minutes would consider that a long time to pray...
The night before Jesus chose His disciples He spent the night praying...Jesus had a difficult decision to make...He went out to a mountainside and spent the entire night praying...Not only do we know He prayed all night, but also we are told that He prayed in a place where He would not be distracted, a place where He could be by Himself and pray alone to God...How often do do we have decisions to make?...How many decisions seem difficult to us?...
Whenever we know that we are going to have a stressed filled day, we should pray...And as we read the Scriptures the busier our day, the more we need His help to get through...Jesus prayed all night...On our busy days, we should take the time for God to pray...It is not because God needs it, we need it...We need Him...The better our day will go, the more we take the time to tell Him, what we think our day is going to be like, and why we will need His help...
In life we daily must make choices and have decisions to make...How often do we ask God for help in these decisions in our lives?...When Jesus needed assistance and help He turned to God...There was no man, ever whose life did not center around God, than Jesus...Jesus turned to God to teach us to turn to God in our lives when we have difficult decisions to make...If Jesus who is divine and knows all things (John 16:30) prayed to God, shouldn't we?...Jesus knew God, His Father, as well as ours, would help...
