Luke 4:31-37
Jesus Drives Out an Evil Spirit
31Then he went down to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, and on the Sabbath began to teach the people. 32They were amazed at his teaching, because his message had authority.
33In the synagogue there was a man possessed by a demon, an evil spirit. He cried out at the top of his voice, 34"Ha! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!"
35"Be quiet!" Jesus said sternly. "Come out of him!" Then the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without injuring him.
36All the people were amazed and said to each other, "What is this teaching? With authority and power he gives orders to evil spirits and they come out!" 37And the news about him spread throughout the surrounding area.
For anyone looking for God to help, Jesus is the answer...Jesus heals...He is a conqueror of illness and has the power over evil...
People were amazed at His teachings and His message...Jesus thus becomes very popular...
The exorcised demons knew Jesus was the Son of God...The demon even knew the name of Jesus of Nazareth...Evil recognizes the power and authority of Jesus...
Can a person be sickened by evil spirits???...
The Jewish religious officials and the people distinguished between good angels, spirits, and the devil...They talk of unclean spirits and evil spirits...Both of these were not a positive thing... Their beliefs and thoughts were that you could be sick with an unclean or evil spirit...We are, after all, just a function of our thoughts...
What we think and believe play an important role in our health...Today, we think we are more sophisticated with our improved knowledge of science...But even today there is widespread illness of stress, anxiety, etc, causing backaches, stomach illnesses, and other stress related maladies...
Jesus can heal all...He is all powerful and showed many miracles of healing...There are illnesses of mind and body...Regardless, of whether you believe you are today ill by an unknown stress or stressor, an evil spirit, an illness recognized by the medical community, Jesus can heal you...
Jesus' healing ability and His authority and His power made the news...His popularity spread throughout the surrounding area...
There is power in His authority and belief...There is power in His Truths...
