Jesus Prays in Lonely Places
15 Yet the news about him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. 16 But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.
Acts 17:24-25
God Does Not Need Anything
24"The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. 25And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else.
Jesus often withdrew to lonely places to pray...Praying is good...Pray is communication with our Father...We are told by St. Luke that Jesus often went to lonely, quiet places to pray...Jesus made prayer, a part of His life...Since Jesus is the Great Example not only His disciples, but also for us we must take note...If I told a friend (or even some of the members in my family) that I am off to a quiet and lonely place to pray, I wonder what they would think?...Yet, that is what Jesus did...He may have not made an announcement, that He was off for prayer, but His disciples, as well as Luke knew it (that He was off praying)...Jesus' prayers and His closeness to His Father is unsurpassed...Jesus was intimate and closer to God than anyone ever on earth...His prayers to His Father kept this earthly personal relationship strong...
St. Paul tells us the God made everything in the heavens and the earth...God is not served by human hands, for He created mankind and gives all men their lives and their very breath...God does not need anything...
We should pray often...We should make prayer a regular part of our lives...When we pray, it is good to go to a quiet place to pray...Let us remember that God does not need prayer, we do...God is not served by man, and does not need anything...Man needs prayer...Prayer is a gate...It is our gate to talk to God...When we open our Prayer Gate, we are communicating with our Creator...Prayer is how we maintain our personal and vital relationship with our Father...If we go off to pray, in a quiet and lonely place, it is good...We must learn from both Jesus' teachings and His examples...
