Luke 4:38-44
Jesus Heals Many
38 Jesus left the synagogue and went to the home of Simon. Now Simon's mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Jesus to help her. 39 So he bent over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up at once and began to wait on them.
40 When the sun was setting, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one, he healed them. 41 Moreover, demons came out of many people, shouting, "You are the Son of God!" But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew he was the Christ.
42 At daybreak Jesus went out to a solitary place. The people were looking for him and when they came to where he was, they tried to keep him from leaving them. 43 But he said, "I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent." 44 And he kept on preaching in the synagogues of Judea.
Jesus went to Simon Peter's home...There He found Peter's mother-in-law ill with fever...Jesus bent over and took the fever away...She immediately got up and began to wait on them...
More people came to Him and others brought those who were ill...Jesus laid His hands on the ill and they were healed...
Evil knew who He was and He rebuked evil and the evil one...
Jesus' teaching impacted the townspeople...The local people wanted Him to stay and tried to keep Him from leaving...But He tells them that the reason He was sent was to preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns as well...Jesus would spread the Word and the good news to others...
Jesus came and healed many, calmed seas and the wind, walked on water, and turned water into wine...He did many miraculous things...But that is not why He came...Jesus' purpose was to spread the the news about the glory of God and to save us from our sins, by dying on the cross...
God's kingdom is anywhere people are doing God's will, helping others, and telling others the good news...
Man is here to love his neighbor and glorify God...Jesus taught us this good news...
