Iguana
The Iguana, known as the saggy-skinned lizard, is able to survive out in the open
in extreme temperatures when other desert creatures retreat to their burrows.
Like other reptiles, it tolerates the heat because it is cold-blooded ~ taking on the temperature of its surroundings.
The desert iguana is an herbivore. Its most common source of food is the creosote bush.
It also looks for insects when they can be found. The iguana doesn’t need much water.
It stores the water it does consume and excretes salt in its place.
This desert lizard’s message stems from its ease in spending the majority of its life soaking up the sun despite the heat.
This contentment serves as a reminder to make the most of your life even when you are going through a dry spell.
If you can only find happiness when things are at their best,
you will miss out on many of life’s most important experiences.
Be content with what you have until things change for the better.
In doing so, you will live life to the fullest and learn valuable lessons along the way. (S. Finelli)
