Cactus

Cacti is the plural form of the desert cactus that range in shapes and size

measuring from a few centimeters to over sixty-five feet.

There are up to thousands of species of cacti that live in dry places disposed to drought.

Unlike most plants that require a constant supply of water,

a cactus is adapted to conserve water over a long period of time.

A cactus can hold a significant amount of water in its stem. It carries additional water in its large root system.

The smaller thin roots grow near the surface to collect whatever rainwater they can.

The longer ‘taproot’ grows much deeper to underground water reserves.

While cacti water supplies have been known to save the lives of people in the desert,

their tough spines and sharp thorns protect them from other desert creatures.

The message here is that you too have a stream of the life force within you.

Like a cactus, you need to conserve this supply in order to survive.

Gather every bit of wisdom through each event you experience so that

you can tap into that power when things get rough.

Learn to develop a tough skin to shield you from the harmful words and actions of others.

In doing so, you can stand strong.  (S. Finelli)
