Armadillo
The natural armor of an armadillo makes this desert animal easily recognizable.
Its overlapping plates cover its head, back, legs and tail.
This serves as convincing protection to deter most predators.
Armadillos range in size from several inches to several feet long.
While the three-banded armadillo can roll itself into a ball to shield from enemies,
other species dig holes to protect their stomachs so that only their armor is visible.
Because of this, the armadillo prefers sandy soils that make burrowing easier.
This armed creature reminds you to take whatever safeguards
are necessary to keep your body protected from injury.
This means using safety equipment when involved in a risky activity.
Be sure you are wearing headgear and body coverings appropriate to the sport.
Bones do break. Your body parts are vulnerable. Take the precautions necessary! (S. Finelli)
