33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
John 16: 33
Jesus brings Peace on earth. He asks us to join Him on His journey, just as He did with the disciples. “As He walked by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. And He said to them, ‘Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.’ Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.”
Simon and Andrew had no idea what kind of journey they were about to begin, but as we see, they simply left their lives behind to follow Jesus. In doing so, they must have felt a Peace they weren’t used to—after spending their lives trying to make ends meet as fishermen. Even though the journey they started was going to be anything but easy or comfortable, especially after the crucifixion. But they got to see the face of God, hear Him speak, watch how He lived, and learn how He prayed.
Real Peace doesn’t come from comfort, gifts, or the drinks we share as we celebrate together. It comes when we choose to drop what we’re doing and follow Him. He will bring you a Peace you’ve never known—and one you will never want to leave.

Lord, you are the true giver of peace. It is unlike anything else in this world and we thank you for keeping it that way after all these years. Bring us into humility today to drop what we are doing and follow You. With all we have going on, planned and unplanned, we bring it to You. Guide us today. Be with those out there that are like Simon and Andrew, doing all they can just to get by. We thank you for the invitation to join You today. Give us the courage to do so.
In Your name we pray. Amen.
