27 “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.”
John 14: 27
Throughout each day, we experience moments that bring us through many different emotions—the joy of coming home, the anxiety of the tasks that still need to be done, hearts racing as the clock winds down, the stillness of that first quiet morning coffee. We move through these moments all week long, and depending on the day, one emotion often outweighs the others.
With entertainment on TV and our phones being what it is today, it has become harder for us to sit in the stillness of the day. Yet stillness is something God designed and modeled for us on day seven of creation. He showed us that after a long week of work and running around—no matter how much we did or didn’t accomplish—there must be a time of rest so that His Peace can fill us.
Where do you find God’s peace today? How long can you stay in it before you begin to desire the world again? God is asking us today: Can you sit with Me just a little bit longer? He wants to give you more of His Peace. And it is better than anything this world has to offer.

God, You are the Creator, yet we often think we know what is best for us—falling into things that are far from good. You are the only maker of Peace, and we thank You for reminding us of that today. Be with those of us who have every reason not to look for peace in our circumstances, and remind us that no matter what is happening in our lives or in this world, You can give Peace in any moment. Remove our hearts from this world so that we may find our rest in You.
In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
