8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
Philippians 4: 8
We’ve talked about what becomes important to us on our journey, but what about those around us? The same is true for the music we listen to and the podcasts or voices we allow to speak into our lives for hours on end. What are you filling your mind with? Because it does matter.
Are we learning, praying, and laughing in ways that build us up—or are we listening to things we wouldn’t allow our own children to hear? If Jesus tells us that those who become like a small child will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, why would we choose to do or consume things we wouldn’t want our children to do or hear?
Now more than ever, we must pay attention. We have to have our minds strong for this life, because 1 Peter 5:8 tells us that the devil prowls around like a roaring lion. We have access to everything, at any time. So ask yourself: who is speaking into your life the most, and what kind of value are they adding to your journey to Christ?

Jesus we thank You for speaking to us daily. Showing us Your way. Giving us Your words. Fill us with Your Spirit and give us the grace to desire You in everything we do. Bring us back when we grab at things of this world, or what we want to please the flesh. Soften our hearts again as they were when we were children. Help us to learn from children we see around us. Watch over us always, Lord.
In Jesus's name we pray. Amen.
