4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 2: 4-7
I can only imagine—when God comes down to be with us and fully gives us His grace, and we are able to be in His presence again. He will light up every darkness on earth, and nothing will be able to hide anymore. No more evil or pain. Just God’s promise from the beginning: for us to live in unity with Him. For this promise, He will do anything. Sometimes that means letting us go off on our own, surrounding us with those who will never let us wander off, or even showing us undeniable miracles for our eyes to witness.
I can only imagine what You went through to bring us back. The purity of Your life, only to be lifted up on a cross in an attempt to shame You beyond what anyone else has endured. For what? That we might believe and follow Your Son, the Light of the World. I can only imagine the pain You planned to endure for us—but I can only imagine the hope You held as well.
God, thank You for being a connector—going to unimaginable depths to bring us back from the sin we have fallen into. Not pointing Your finger at us to shame us, but standing with Your arms wide open, waiting for us to run back home.
We repent, Lord, for the journey we have tried to take by ourselves. We thank You for never allowing us to be alone, and we thank You for being patient with us—far more than we deserve. Forgive Your children and bring us back home. We want to live in the light.
In Your name we pray. Amen.
