10 And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
Luke 2: 10-11
God has come to be with us—let us tell the world!
The angel of the Lord appeared to the shepherds who were guarding their sheep one night and told them that there was good news…
We know the Christmas story, and we are thankful each year to remember what He has done for us. But what does that mean, and why should it bring us Joy? Why is this such good news? God is with us! We finally get to see and talk to Him. We get to see what He has to say in our everyday lives—how He would respond to our greatest questions, what He thinks of our living, where He walks and how fast, and a glimpse of what He is capable of doing as a human being.
And also, He will be sending the third person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit, to be within each of us—God within us. We get to be a part of His work on earth even more as He works through us. We get to surrender to Him and serve those around us whom He wants to serve. One of the greatest Joy we should have today is knowing that He came down to live with us and teach us by showing us. He isn’t an absent Father—He is present, He is listening, and He is speaking to and through each of us.
