There are two possible banks to open a bank account with.

•  Government-sponsored international students: Japan Post Bank 

• Other students: Kagoshima Bank or Japan Post Bank

• Students who plan to work part-time at Kagoshima University or receive a scholarship: Kagoshima Bank (Recommended)

✅At the Bank

・ Convey that you want to open a regular account (Futsuu kouza) at the counter and fill out the required items on the designated form.

・Present items for verification, such as passports, residence cards and other documents to the staff at the counter.

・A cash card will be mailed to you at a later date, but you will first receive a passbook for a bank account.

・Morning or early afternoon is recommended to go to the bank.

・ Make sure to bring your Student ID or Certificate of enrollment. The name on the residence card and Student ID or certificate of enrollment should be same.

・It may take about an hour to open an account. Note the closing time.
