Why Kairos Missions? Kairos in Greek means: right, critical, or opportune time. It is found in the New Testament in Mark 1:15. It means "the appointed time in the purpose of God" or the time when God acts. In Mark 1:15, it states "the time is fulfilled (kairos) and the kingdom of God is at hand."
In May 2019, my wife and I were convicted by God that our 4 kids needed to be fully trained to serve God - Disciple Makers. That led us to start our home church on May 5, 2019. It's been a year that we have taught our kids, and I'm amazed at how much they have grown in God. More importantly, they have been equipped to serve God. Now that they are equipped, they will be serving in a near by church to where God leads them and meet the spiritual needs of the church. They are excited to serve God and His people. God is good!
Beyond my family, we sensed that people around the world, but especially in the United States, have fallen away from their first love. In Revelation Jesus warns us not to be lukewarm, that we either be hot or cold or He would spit us out of His mouth. With this heavy burden, we felt an urgent need to seek God for our next direction. As my wife and I went away on a mini retreat in January 2020 in celebration of our 24th anniversary, that is when Kairos Missions was birthed. After having quiet time with the Lord, God clearly spoke to us and gave us the conviction and passion to start this ministry NOW.
It's always sad to see so many churches with so few servants and lay leaders. One of our desires is to help local churches with this problem. I am humbled and grateful that God allowed me, for over 20 years, to serve Him in Sunday School, Youth, College, and Adult ministries (as a teacher, directer, counselor, and pastor). At every church we served, we always saw a lack of leaders or trained leaders. Throughout these experiences and in our experience with our own home fellowship, we saw the great need to be make disciples for Jesus and for them to model what Christ had done in His ministry while on earth - to be disciple makers. I realized that growing in the knowledge of God and serving Him helped me to grow exponentially. I made sure to incorporate that in my ministry and saw the same kind of growth in others. It really hit home when I saw the fruits in my own children.
Although, my wife and I have been involved in ministries in various churches in Arizona and California, we feel that there are others much more qualified than us. We certainly don't have the credentials in man's eyes to do this ministry since we don't have a seminary degree and we are not ordained. However, what we do have is a passion to serve God in whatever ministry He calls us. Right now that calling for us is to start Kairos Missions. By the grace of God, we trust that He will expand this ministry and cause it to bear much fruit for His kingdom and for His name's sake.
We are convicted by God to do this full time and we know that God will provide. In Isaiah 6:8, "Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.” We have answered God "Here we are. Send Us." Will you join us?
We are looking for serious Christians who want to be equipped so they can serve God. We are also looking for volunteers to work along side us. Use your talents to serve God with us. Sign up below and let's start this journey together!
