So far I have learned the alphabet, verbs, and a few vocab. When you read this language we read it right to left. It is actually easy to pronounce, like the Korean language. It is basically putting a consonant and a vowel together to make a sound. Usually the main word is made up of 3 letter with vowels, although some letter do not have a vowel. When you say God in Hebrew it is "EL" or "ELOHIM". Our professor told us that originally Hebrew did not have vowels, but only consonants. People had a hard time reading those holy words, but did not want to add to the text. They instead added vowels at the bottom, top, and sometimes next to the letters without disturbing the integrity of the words. This is just one example of the extreme care and detail people put into the bible. They knew the bible was God's words and wanted to preserved them just as they are. Now with advancement and the great discovery of the dead sea scroll, we have even more confidence in the bible we are holding in our hands.
