MISTI-Con 2019

Cosplays (15 total)

As with every MISTI-Con, the number of costumes here (15) set a record for me, topping the previous MISTI-Con.  Included among this was a day (the Friday) where I wore seven costumes in a single day - Ludo Bagman through Moaning Myrtle!

Rita Skeeter's Scoop: MISTI-Con 2019 Edition

Rita Skeeter was back to causing trouble at MISTI-Con 2019, giving out copies of the Daily Prophet on the very first night.

In Sir Cadogan's Wild Ride, Rita makes some truly shocking allegations about Sir Cadogan and his pony (allegations that would definitely feed into Cadogan's appearance at the Founders Ball two days later).

In MISTI-Con 2019 Attempts to Hide Ineptitude with Special Guests, Rita writes about all of the special guests appearing at MISTI-Con 2019, with the article serving as a preview of my entire MISTI-Con 2019 program.  It surreptitiously mentioned every single one of the fourteen characters I planned to cosplay at MISTI-Con 2019, as well as the various performances I'd partake in and my book about Dumbledore (Rita's not a fan!).

Presentation: The Foreshadowing of Borgin & Burkes (based on this essay and this essay)

Presentation: Discussing HP in 2019: Engaging with Fandom despite the Furor, Failures, and False Controversies - this was my second joint presentation with Lorrie Kim, where we discussed how to engage with the Wizarding World in a fraught time for the fandom.  I did not prepare any notes, but Lorrie published hers.

Moderating: I moderated a panel for the very first time, leading three other authors in a discussion about "Writing in the Post-Potter Age."

Author Reading: I got to do a reading from my book, The Life and Lies of Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, as well as selling and signing copies throughout the con!

The Art of Wizard Dance: Rodolphus by Ashley Trix

For the very first time, I debuted a brand new dance number for The Art of Wizard Dance - this was the world premiere of the dance for Rodolphus!

Lip Sync Battle: Puffs: A Very White Room

Merlies: The Resurrection of Voldemort

Note: I believe this costume is the single most extra thing I've ever done.  But I welcome debate on the subject!

Dancing Death Eaters: At long last, my wizard dance troupe made its convention debut!  The four of us performed four numbers, including one brand-new one.

This performance came right after the Lip Sync Battle and the Merlies, concluding what I'd nicknamed the "Irvin Variety Hour."

Old Favorites: Death Eater Tango, Like a Death Eater, Dark Mark Calling

Featuring Leeza, Angelica, Julia, and me!

World Premiere: My Obsession

Featuring Julia and me!
