engaged in lively discussions about expanding and deepening our successful collaboration with colleagues of the IiVP partner universities in Vienna, among them the
These meetings were complemented by a workshop for European residential study abroad staff who provide program services for Illinois students abroad. Thanks to the generous support of LASIP, colleagues from Athens, Bilbao, Granada, Paris, Pavia, Rome, and Vienna discussed internal efficiency and best practices, student safety and security standards, and the potential to develop web presence strategies that allow our programs to highlight their unique characteristics and organizational structures. We focused on each program’s work with pre-departure, on-site, and post-program tasks in the quest for best practices. We also explored the prospects for synergies among our programs with the goal of further improving each of them, as well as the overall quality of Illinois study abroad. Our goal is to implement the first synergies by the end of 2019.
The Fall 2019 Meetings in Vienna culminated with an IiVP Alumni and Friends “Thank you” reception on the campus of the Vienna University of Economics and Business. Here, we presented our extensive alumni network and highlighted how individual members play an integral part in our programmatic quality assurance and development with their mentoring activities. The reception was a delightful and festive celebration of the transatlantic IiVP partnerships and the merits of global study abroad.
