在作品《一封來自吉米的分手信》中，我探討權力符號的脆弱性與歷史敘事的操弄。我將象徵全球最高權力核心、曾決定台灣命運的「堅毅桌」轉化為兩件相互對話的物件：一件是手繪在廉價塑膠桌布上的圖案，另一件則是電腦印刷在布料上的圖案。這種材質上的「輕盈」與原件桌子的「沉重」形成了強烈對比。

這件作品具有雙重隱喻：它既像「國王的新衣」，透過廉價媒材揭露人們對權力的眷戀、臣服及其背後的荒謬感；也像一具「蓋著床單的鬼魂」，象徵台灣在國際政治中徘徊且虛無的幽靈狀態。

影像部分則結合了兩段敘事：我親自演繹吉米·卡特 1978 年終止台美外交關係的演說，以及關於《舊金山和約》的歷史影像。卡特的演說在台灣歷史中是「被拋棄」的創傷，卻在中國官方敘事中被操弄為「美國承認台灣主權歸中」的虛假文本。我透過故障 (Glitch) 手法將我個人的「雜音」與私語介入官方紀錄，暗示歷史是一場混淆 (Confuse) 且被高度操弄的敘事。

"A Breakup Letter from Jimmy " explores the fragility of power symbols and the manipulation of historical narratives. I transform the Resolute Desk—a seat of global authority that altered Taiwan’s destiny—into two contrasting textile pieces: one hand-drawn on a cheap plastic tablecloth, and another digitally printed on fabric. The radical lightness of these materials stands in stark opposition to the heaviness of the original object.

The work functions through a dual metaphor: it acts as "The Emperor’s New Clothes," using low-cost materials to expose our obsession with and surrender to authority as something absurd. Simultaneously, it evokes a "Ghost under a bedsheet," symbolizing Taiwan’s existence as a geopolitical phantom—present yet denied.

The media component intertwines two videos: my own reenactment of Jimmy Carter’s 1978 speech and historical footage of the Treaty of San Francisco. While Carter’s speech remains a trauma of "abandonment" for Taiwanese people, it has been manipulated in Chinese state narratives as a distorted confirmation of sovereignty. By interjecting my personal "noise" and whispers through Glitch aesthetics, I disrupt the official record, suggesting that history is a confused and manufactured construct.
