《To Roam, View, Travel, and Live– An Immersive Experience of Ink Wash Painting, National Taiwan Museum of Fine Art, Taichung》, Multimedia and Interactive Installations, site-specific, 2017
Directed by Pro. Tseng Yu-Chuan, this exhibition is a collaborative creation by three artists: Chou Kuan-Ting, Hung Hsiao-Peng, and Hsu Hui-Ching. This project, which for the first time integrates 360-degree panoramic projection with virtual reality, not only presents a new challenge but also aims to showcase Taiwan's technological and digital art innovation on the international stage.
Ink painting embodies a mystical power, serving as an expressive language for Eastern culture and mysticism. For millennia, it has existed in two-dimensional, flat forms, often imagined in the ethereal realm beyond the tangible world. The "Journey, Observation, Wander, and Abode – Interactive Virtual Ink Painting Exhibition" challenges the profound and serene essence of traditional Eastern ink painting by transitioning its expressive form into a new dimension. This work introduces planar traditional ink aesthetics into the virtual three-dimensional space, merging ink painting's charm with virtual reality and then further embedding virtual reality into immersive panoramic projections. While seemingly realistic, the experience ultimately returns to the illusory.
