Nethermancy
Nethermancers are human mages who study the nature of the Netherworld, fear and horrors, and have derived arcane means of replicating those powers. Much like horrors, nethermancers have learnt how to use fear and terror to fuel their spells, which gives them the same negative reputation as horrors deal with. But just like horrors, anyone with an interest in the dark or in the nature of fear can become a nethermancer, conquering their terror and bending it to their service. Most nethermancy spells involve displays of shifting or twisted shadows, rising tides of darkness, and bolts of black or violet energy, as appropriate. These spells can range from flinging bolts of shadows at targets, to summoning forth illusions of a target's worst fears, to cloaking oneself in darkness, to replicating the flickering of a horror.
To become a nethermancer, a apprentice mage to awaken the darker part of their soul--known as the shadow--and suffuse it with their deepest fears. If done properly, their shadow will awakening as something resembling a horror's own inner beast, a quintessential monster that represents the nethermancer's fears and phobias. It is from this awoken shadow that nethermancers gain their understandering of the nature of terror, allowing them to harness the power of the Netherworld.
