Volunteer Opportunities

You can help out your student and the Speech & Debate program in a number of ways:  

Water!

In addition to selling water at our tournaments, we also use water every tournament to keep our kids hydrated.  Each student is asked to bring ONE case of water to start the year.  Parents who are willing/able can also donate water at any time during the year - just send it with your student.  We ALWAYS need water.    

Parent Volunteer Slot Sign Up

Parent volunteers are one way that we keep costs for Hawk Debaters low.  Parents should sign up for at least TWO 4 hour  judging slots AND ONE 4 hour tournament slot. The Sign-Up Genius can be found here: 

Hawk TFA Tournament FOOD Sign up- August 30-31

This is the first tournament that we are hosting for the year.  We will need parents to bring food/drink items for hospitality and parents to work in the kitchen preparing the food, serving, etc.  The link to the google doc for donation items is HERE. Please choose what you can bring.  Perishable items should be brought to the front office on Friday, September 1. Non-perishable items need to be brought to the debate office any day before Wednesday, August 29th. (I will be making a SAMS run that day, so I need to have a good idea of what is still needed.) 

Volunteer Judging 

Parents are always needed to fill judging obligations at local tournaments.  Watch the easy 'How to Judge' videos and then you are ready to go!  If you are able to volunteer to cover judging obligations at the following tournaments, please contact Ms. Janak as soon as possible at vada.janak@pfisd.net.
