Please join us in congratulating Senior, Emily Etnyre. Last weekend Emily was the first student from HHS to ever break into outrounds at the prestigious National Tournament of Champions in Extemporaneous Speaking at Northwestern University. Students competing at this meet come from some of the most elite private schools as well as the most competitive public schools across the country. Emily broke to the quarterfinals round, placing her in the Top 24 nationwide. This was a first for HHS and PISD!
Additionally, though he did not break in the main event of extemp, Junior Chris Davis won 6th place in the consolation event of Extemp Commentary – another first for Hendrickson. We have never had students in any outround at this tournament.
Please take a moment to give them a big ‘hawk-kudos’ – these placings represent thousands of hours of practice speeches, reading current events articles, watching news and discussing things that would bore most high school students. We are so very proud of them and their hard work!
