Education and experience
Left school with no CSEs/O Levels. However, did do level 2 Functional skills in English and Maths in the last 5 years.
Completed his NVQ 3 in Professional Cookery, and has completed his level 2 & 3 in Food Hygiene.
He has been cooking in a variety of different organisations/sectors since leaving school (for the past 39 years) as that is what his passion is.
Role and responsibilities
To provide a varied selection of healthy & safe cold and cooked food to both staff, patients and visitors.
To ensure that the kitchen is clean in order to meet the Food Hygiene Rating of 5.
To ensure that the food stores are adequately stocked and that stock is rotated regularly.
To interview, hire, and train kitchen/catering staff.
Technical skills
Not very technical. He uses his home laptop to surf the internet and to send/receive emails. Does have a work computer, only uses it when necessary. Only recently (within the last year) upgraded to a smart phone as his previous phone died.
Subject domain skills and knowledge
Has worked in the hospital/health care sector for the past 20 years. While he may not know much about taking care of patients from a medical point of view, he does have nutritional knowledge and can design and cook a variety of different menus catering to different requirements.
Motivation and desires
Wants to continue cooking - and to turn it into a hobby that he loves, even after he retires.
Goals and expectations
To continue to meet the required professional development that the hospital lays on for staff.
Obstacles to their success
Was falsely imprisoned where he was attacked by 2 prisoners before being released. So not very trusting.
As he not very open to change, his views are “I’ve always done it that way before” and “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.
Tends to believe a lot of the extreme/one sided news from the tabloids.

Headstrong, strong-willed, not very social, hard worker/takes pride in his work.
